Late in 2008, one of our consultants travelled to the U.K. to undertake a 6 month contract at The O2 in London.
The O2 is one of the world's foremost entertainment venues - a 20,000 seat arena which has played host to the likes of Bon Jovi, U2, Pink, Beyonce, Britney, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, and many more. Made even more famous recently as the venue in which Michael Jackson was to perform his 50 sell-out shows, and taking the title of the world's most popular venue based on ticket sales, London's The O2 is now the premier live entertainment venue in the world.
Our consultant was contracted to develop a suite of nine intranet applications to help support the daily business processes at the venue. Seven of these applications are in use today, and two are awaiting imminent launch (as of August 14, 2009). The applications supported the following business processes:
- Vehicle booking
for deliveries, event load-in etc. - Fire incident control
multi-pathway question & answer scripts to follow in case of fire - Siteworks requests
to manage the authorisation of all siteworks - Event working wristbands requests
for staff to request access to events for support - Asset booking
for staff to book assets such as forklifts and IT equipment - Porterage requests
for staff to request help from logistics to move heavy items - Exhibit membership management
a database for recording memberships at an exhibit hosted by The O2 - the British Music Experience - Supply contract management
to manage authorisation of large supply contracts - Visitor pass management
to manage the requests and approvals of visits to the site
Having completed these nine applications, and with more applications still in the pipeline, we are anticipating a long and fruitful relationship with The O2.
